Thank you to...
... Lil'Fingers for bringing this crucially cerebral article to my attention: Dogs Looking Depressed in their Halloween Costumes.
The hands down winner in this sad competition is the pug.

October really is the best month--the return of sweaters and jeans without sweating, candy apples once again become socially acceptable, and we celebrate Thanksgiving, closely followed by my second (near first) favourite holiday: Halloween.
Like Claire, I'm a bit fanatical when it comes to Halloween, driving all over the countryside looking for a collection of white pumpkins for my ghostly jack-o-lantern display, forcing Orange to buy full-sized chocolate bars to hand to perfect strangers just so we can be "the good house" on the street, spending hours perfecting a ghoulish motif in the front yard. While I haven't gone so far as to dress dearest Bert in his own costume (tuxedo aside...) don't think I didn't contemplate it.
I thought turning 30 last year would have put an end to this foolishness, but every year I come back with an excited bubble in my tummy. I think I've come to the conclusion I will never be too old for this holiday, nor will the excitement of costume planning ever get lame...
... However lame that might make me.

I assume the Claire you are referring to (the link doesn't work) is Claire from Modern Family? Because when I watched it last night, I totally thought of you. You're totally going to be that mom.
"Harsh words from somebody who had three servings of Tandoori Turkey last year..."
Yes! I texted Fingers last night right after the show: "ohmygoodness... I'm claire!"
p.s. Thanks for the head's up on the link... All fixed!
Hahah :) Being the "lead" on Bread and Jam just made my day!! Really, who dresses up their dog...as a stick of butter??!
Also, I am so excited to spend the night catching up on so many missed Modern Family episodes...I love citytv.ca :)
